Loro Parque TenerifeTranslated, this means Parrot Parque, which is how this beautiful animal park started out. Over many years they have added more and more animals and features, which has made this the most popular attraction on the island. It is only 5 to 10 minutes drive or you can walk down to Puerto and catch the free mini road train which weaves through town on its way to the park. They now have 4 killer whales, dolphins, sea lions, penguins, shark tunnel, aquarium, gorillas, tigers, jaguars, alligators, lots of different parrots and much, much more. You don't want to miss this.
Playa Jardin, the best local beach is opposite this, so go for a swim afterwards to cool off. To see all the fantastic things they have to offer, visit their website here ; In English    In German    In Spanish

Pueblo Chico Puerto De La Cruz

This a great day out for all ages. See the many sights of the Canary Islands reproduced in miniature. This amazing attraction is spread over 20,000 square metres of spectacularly landscaped gardens. A miniature world to rival any you have seen before. There website is only in Spanish, but you can look at the pictures, to give you a taste of what you can expect. Click Here to go to the Pueblo Chico website.

Lago Martinez Puerto De La Cruz

Lago Martinez is a maze of salt water swimming pools laced with palm trees lava rock, bars and restaurants. Again this is suitable for all age groups. There are quiet areas where you can lay back and relax and also areas specially designed for children. Sun loungers are available to hire for reasonable rates. Everything you need is on site, so it's a great place to spend the whole day.

Butterfly Zoo Tenerife

The Mariposario Del Drago is a tropical garden where hundreds of amazing exotic butterflies from all over the world, fly in total freedom while you walk amongst them. This is a truly fantastic experience for adults and children alike. It is quite common for these wonders of nature to land on you while you are walking around and some are bigger than your hand!

Camel Centre Tenerife

The Camel Centre This activity is suitable for all age groups. Dress up in Arab style clothing a take your place on the camel train. You will ride your camel around the local countryside. (Don't worry, the camels are controlled by trained staff.) After your trek, you can enjoy a choice of typical Canarian foods. Jungle Park Tenerife

Jungle Park This animal park is situated in the south of the island. About a 1 hour and 20 minute drive, but it's well worth it. This animal park has been landscaped and planted to look like a jungle. Follow the winding jungle paths and see numerous types of animals as they would be in their natural habitat. They also have special shows where they fly all types of birds free around you. My favourite is the Condor. They fly a group of condors only inches from your head. These magnificent birds then saw upwards on thermals until they are hundreds of feet in the air. There are also theme park rides for those who like that sort of thing. Great for all ages and an experience not to be missed. Click here for the Jungle Park Website. Available in English & Spanish.

Submarine Safaris Tenerife

Submarine Safaris This should be on your list of things to do while you are still able. See the wonders of the deep by actually going under water in a yellow submarine. You will see wondrous sites as the beautiful animals and plants pass by. Colourful shoals of fish come right up close to the window. This attraction is in the south of the island, but it's a once in lifetime experience and well worth it. Visit their website and you can watch a video of the submarine in action.
